White Labeling

This guide will walk you through the process of white labeling our hotel booking engine using a CNAME (Canonical Name) DNS entry to point a subdomain of your choice to wbe.res-online.net. This technical configuration will allow your customers to book rooms through a subdomain that reflects your brand, making it look like the booking engine is part of your own website.

Steps to White Label a Hotel Booking Engine with a CNAME Entry

Prerequisites:

  • Access to your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider where your domain's DNS settings can be managed.
  • Subdomain you want to use for your booking engine, e.g., bookings.yourdomain.com.

Step 1: Choose a Subdomain for White Labeling

You'll need to decide what subdomain you want to use for your booking engine. For example, you might choose something like:

  • bookings.yourdomain.com
  • reserve.yourdomain.com
  • wbe.yourdomain.com

This subdomain will be used to point to the actual booking engine hosted at wbe.res-online.net.

Step 2: Access Your DNS Settings

  1. Log in to the dashboard of your domain registrar or DNS hosting provider.
  2. Navigate to the section where you manage DNS records. This could be called "DNS settings," "Zone File," or "Manage DNS," depending on your provider.

Step 3: Create a CNAME Record

  1. Add a new DNS record:

    • Type: CNAME (Canonical Name)
    • Name/Host: This is the subdomain you're setting up. For example, if you want bookings.yourdomain.com, the host would be bookings.
    • Value/Target: The value should be the address you want this subdomain to point to—in this case, wbe.res-online.net.
    • TTL (Time To Live): You can usually leave this at the default setting, or set it to a low value (e.g., 300 seconds) if you want the changes to propagate faster.

    Example of a CNAME entry:

    TypeNameValueTTL
    CNAMEbookingswbe.res-online.net300
  2. Save the CNAME record.

Step 4: SSL

Since web traffic should be secure (especially for booking engines involving sensitive user information), we want to ensure that your white-labeled domain supports HTTPS.

For that we need to know which domains you will be using in order to generate the SSL certificate.

Step 5: Verify the CNAME Configuration

After you’ve added the CNAME record, DNS propagation may take some time (typically a few minutes, but up to 24-48 hours). You can verify whether the CNAME is working by using DNS lookup tools like DNSChecker or MXToolbox to confirm that bookings.yourdomain.com is correctly pointing to wbe.res-online.net.

Step 7: Test Your White-Labeled Booking Engine

Finally, test the booking engine to ensure:

  1. The DNS is correctly resolving to your subdomain.
  2. The SSL certificate is active and working (i.e., https://bookings.yourdomain.com loads securely).
  3. The booking process works as expected for customers.
  4. All branding appears correctly, making it look like a seamless part of your site.

By following these steps, you will have successfully white-labeled your hotel booking engine using a CNAME record that points to wbe.res-online.net.
